This site is located just below the Cullaby Lake dam at the start of the current form of the on the Skipanon River. It represents the reach of the Skipanon between Cullaby Lake and the head of tide.

The water at this site tends to have a high level of temperature stratification, with deeper water staying cooler and surface water getting much warmer.
